These are two bonus tracks from the album "Freedom Suite Ensuite" released on Sunnyside Records. They didn't make it in the album because of artistic decisions, but they have the same audio quality as the other songs, mixed by Pete Rende and recently remastered by Walter Fishbacher in New York City.
Notes from Clovis Nicolas:
"Lucas' Changes" - This is an original composition of mine. Upon hearing it, drummer Kenny Washington nicknamed me the "French Elmo Hope,"after the famous jazz pianist. It is a bebop line on a form that alternates between bright swing and a latin groove section. It is not featured on the album because there was enough songs already, but I really like it, so it's here now!
"You or Me?" - This is another take of a song that already is on the album. I liked the two takes so much that I mixed them both before I chose the definitive one. On this alternate version, the band is tighter, focused and more conservative. You will hear trumpeter Brandon Lee playing more in the bebop tradition, while saxophonist Grant Stewart takes extra chances with the harmony as he discovers the song in the studio. This is a first take, while the one on the album ended up being the last one.
The Arkadia Jazz All-Stars deliver a low-lit, elegant take on Duke Ellington classics, each note delivered with tenderness and grace. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 19, 2022

A story of sadness, confusion, and despair ending in hope and certainty that the cosmos is not a random and meaningless jumble of atoms populated by mindless mechanical men, but a world of meaning, beauty, and truth. Emotions and the heart are not everything, but they are an essential part of being human. ianjworsomething
